Sunburn is a burn of your skin. Depending on the level of burn, skin may redden, blister and peel. One thing is certain: every sunburn increases the risk of developing skin cancer in the course of life. These tips help your skin to protect itself where it can not do it on its own.
Tip # 1: The right clothes for avoiding sunburn
In Australia and New Zealand a winged term says slip, slop, slap. Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat. Incidentally, dark clothing has a higher sun protection factor than bright ones.
So nothing intensive sunbathing is not recommended? No, because the upper body and thighs are especially sensitive to the skin. These body parts only reach the sun in the three warmest months of the year. And usually have no chance to prepare adequately for the sun. The skin can not even be tanned by a short touch. ATTENTION: Visiting a solarium is not recommended at all to prepare for the sun. Because intensive radiation proves to be able to cause skin cancer.
A hat protects the head and face from the sun. Overheating of the head can cause a sunstroke that can manifest with symptoms such as headache, fever, fatigue and nausea and is very uncomfortable.
Your eyes also want to be protected. That’s why sunglasses in sunshine are a good tip. Make sure it wears the CE mark and shows a SPF of 300-400. Sore eyes in sunshine is a sign of hypersensitivity to the sun. Protect them between 11am and 3pm and in bright environments such as hazy skies, snow or on the beach, especially well and otherwise slowly get your eyes on the light.
Tip # 2: The right sunscreen
Choosing the right sunscreen can be quite nerve-wracking. Here are some tips that may help you in your selection.
The Northern European type has light to very fair skin, often freckles, green or blue eyes and rarely or not at all brown. He gets sunburn very fast. Self-protection time: 5 – 10 minutes
SPF 20 already protects against 95% of all UV rays, SPF 50 before 97%. So, think about whether the 2 percent more you get at LSF 50 is worth burdening your body with nanoparticles and chemical sunscreen filters. Because LSF 20 is the maximum value that can be achieved without nanoparticles or chemical sun protection filters. In addition, one can use the sun protection factor to calculate how long one can stay in the sun: multiply the self-protection time by the sun protection factor.
These substances usually have a hormone-like effect in living organism. This goes so far that it has been found in investigations in coral reefs that fish embryos masculinize whereever sunscreen gets into the water, as is the case with bathing beaches. Coral bleaching worldwide is caused by up to 18% of chemical sunscreens. Therefore, e.g. Hawaii has already banned chemical sunscreen in sun creams.
Even in human body, sunscreen can cause damage. From misinformation in the endocrine system via tumor types to the infertility of babies in the stomach of pregnant women anything is possible. Incidentally, the sunscreen filters are detectable in our blood shortly after application. Thus they have free rein to distribute themselves in the body. If UV rays hit the sunscreen filters under the skin, some of these filters even disintegrate. Heat is released during the chemical reaction. If now also mineral oils are contained in the product, threatens a heat accumulation.
How do I recognize chemical sunscreen filters?
They are recognizable by the fact that you can not see them, because they penetrate into the skin. These sunscreen filters are sometimes even applicable as a spray. They include, for example, anisotriazine, avobenzone (butylmethoxydibenzoylmethane), benzophenone-3, benzophenone-4, benzophenone-5,3-benzylidene camphor, bisimidazylate, diethylaminohydroxybenzoylhexylbenzoate, drometrizoltrisiloxane, ethylhexylmethoxycinnamate, ethylhexyltriazone, octocrylene, etc.
What is the alternative?
Physical sunscreen, they are also called mineral sunscreen. These act like a parasol. If they are larger than nanoparticles, they will not penetrate our body either, but will protect our skin like a shield and reflect the sun. Many sunscreens, however, make you wonder why most people do not want to use mineral sunscreen for aesthetic reasons. My tip: The RINGANA sunscreen SPF 20 does not bother, and thanks to Crambe abyssinica, it can also be optimally used, nourishes the skin with precious oils and is also water-resistant.
The official definition of a waterproof sunscreen is that after half an hour in the water, it still has half of the sun protection factor. RINGANA goes other ways. By Tungbaumöl the sunscreen is fixed on the skin, even after an hour in the water you are still really well creamed.
Tip # 3: Cream properly
Do not spare sunscreen, but cream yourself neat. Sites that are particularly prone to sunburn because they are easily forgotten are the back of hands and feet, neck, décolleté and – please don´t smile 🙂 – ears. In these areas, the skin is also very thin, which means it is protected by less moisture and can age much faster.
If you feel like having to cream, listen to your stomach. Also pay attention to the places that have lost sunscreen due to abrasion and creme there more often.
Tip # 4: Sunscreen from the inside
You can also protect your body from the inside against the sun. Make sure you have enough antioxidants to protect your cells from premature aging and damage. Nurture yourself well and take care of sufficient Omega-3 intake. Active ingredients such as copper and L-tyrosine your body needs for melanin formation. Astaxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin ensure a smooth complexion. My tip: You can find all these substances together in the CAPS sun, with which you can optimally prepare yourself for the sun.
Tip # 5: Self-tanner
Of course none of us wants to run white through the summer. Instead of an extensive, skin-damaging sunbath, you can fall back on self-tanner. Pay attention to self-tanning without DHA, because this substance releases the carcinogenic formaldehyde when decayed by heat. The FRESH after sun by RINGANA (formerly RINGANA tanning activator) works without this fabric. Top: he lets himself pass streak-free. In addition, it can alleviate some of the damage that has occurred in the previous sunbath (for example, mild sunburn).
Make sure you exfoliate before using self-tanner. After all, dead skin scales turn brown particularly quickly, but they also fall off soon. So skin looks spotty and the disappointment is guaranteed.
